This painting explores the vicissitudes & herstory of gender and lesbian culture of a self-identified Kiki lesbian. This painting reflects a loving homage to an identity steeped in lesbian history, and I wonder at the impact of these women and it’s predecessor-ship of today’s gender blending/ genderqueer identities.
